Happy Halloween!

This year we celebrated Leona's first halloween.  For her first costume ever, she went as a pink kitty cat, and I must say she looked absolutely adorable.  Since Leona is still too little to walk and eat bunches of candy we decided to forego the door-to-door trick or treating.  Because, let's face it, I was going to be stuck with a pumkin full of candy that I certainly did not need or want.  Instead we set out chairs in the driveway and we passed out candy to all the trick or treaters as a family.  I think the parents got a kick out of seeing our little one participating in the festivities. Here's a shot of Leona just before trick or treating began.

Not to worry though, we still took her over to MeMe and PaPa's for some official "ring the doorbell trick or treating."  Ironically, we showed up just as the candy ran out and they turned their porch light off.  We got Leona in position and I rang the doorbell......no answer....hmmm?...I rang the door bell again.....still not answer.  This time I repeatedly rang the doorbell until they answered and got a special treat...a stray pink kitty sitting on their doorstep! My nephew came over shortly after we arrived and we spent the rest of the evening with the family.  All in all, it was a great Halloween and despite the fact that Leona will probably never remember it, I know Joe and I will always have fond memories of our pink kitty cat.

Picasso's Pumpkins

Since Leona's not quite ready to carve pumpkins just yet, I decided to make a craft night out of it with a little finger paint.  We went pumpkin picking the previous weekend so, outside of a little mess control, we were all all set for some finger painting.  Please bear in mind this was Leona's first experience with paint of any kind, so she was a little confused that the colorful stuff on her fingers was supposed to go on the pumkins.  I think she painted her face and arms just about as much as she painted the pumpkins.  For those of you who know me rather well are quite aware that I LOVE to be clean and organized.  This was a giant step for this momma, but a fun one at that!

Pumpkin Pickin'

Heartland Apple Festival here we come!  Ever since Joe and I started dating, we've had an annual tradition of going to Beasley's Orchard for a hayride to the pumpkin patch, eating caramel apples and drinking hot cider.  This was an exciting year for us because we got to include Leona.  Let me just tell you, toting a 22lb child (who was losing her boots every other second), diaper bag, camera, and 3 pumpkins takes some talent.  There was no training for this one.  In the end we mastered our technique and had so much fun picking out our pumpkins this year.  I think I might even make a craft out of it and buy Leona some finger paint so she can "decorate" her pumpkin.  I will definitely be posting those pics!  In the mean time check out our latest adventure to Beasley's.

"No really! GIMME!"

PMCH Playdate

More fun was had with my PMCH ladies at Broad Ripple Park.  There's nothing more amusing to me these days than watching our little ones interact with one another.  We even added some newbies to the group including Abby & Claire, Amy & Anna, Gigi & Reece, and Michelle & Thomas.  Even though Leona is only 10 mos now, I looked at these new babies and couldn't believe how much she's changed in that time.  I love that we all have this special connection now! Here's some pics from our great day:
