- Marriage and motherhood are two goals I've always had for my life. It never occured to me that I would meet my future husband at seventeen. When most kids at that age were focused on Friday night; we were talking about long-term. After overcoming several long distance obstacles, we finally joined our lives together. On September 30, 2006 I married my best friend in front of God, our family and friends. Now that I had accomplished marriage, what about motherhood? In my profession, pediatric nursing, there is always some heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, tear jerking story. After seeing families struggle with loss, disease, and disablilty I began to question whether motherhood was in the cards. I soon realized that even with all the sadness my job can bring, there are also very uplifting moments as well. Joe and I decided that we would welcome a baby into our lives. Our daughter was born December 3, 2009. When that tiny 7lb. 1oz little girl was placed in my arms, I instantly fell in love with her. The moment of her arrival was my greatest achievment, and I would give birth to her every day for the rest of my life.
